Presentations and Public Speaking Consulting

Overview

Developing strong public speaking and presentation skills is an essential part of your undergraduate or graduate training. Whether you are preparing for a class presentation, a thesis defense, a guest lecture, or a job interview, your ability to express yourself clearly and articulately will be vital to your success.

Graduate student consultants are now available to those within the Tufts community who seek help and guidance with presentation and public speaking preparation. We provide individualized, one-on-one support for students who would like to:

  • Create, practice or polish an oral presentation
  • Learn techniques to strengthen their personal speaking style (body and voice)
  • Learn how to use PowerPoint effectively in presentations
  • Prepare for an oral exam such as a thesis defense or a qualifying exam
  • Organize research into a conference presentation, guest lecture, or speaking engagement
  • Overcome fears, gain personal confidence, and develop a smooth, polished speaking style

Our tutors are graduate students who are trained in acting, speech, and public oration in addition to their writing and research skills.

Individual help is available for any academic discipline. We will work with you on any stage in the process, from brainstorming your ideas, to overcoming anxieties, to organizing your information, to rehearsing your delivery.
