Academic Preparation

Seven-Year Program with the Dental School

Tufts offers a seven-year joint program between the undergraduate campus and the dental school. Students apply in April of their first year and are given a decision that summer. A student needs to complete two pre-dent requirements by the end of the first year - generally Chem1 and 2 or Bio 13 and 14. A curriculum is then worked out between the student and the health professions advisor that provides for the student to begin dental school classes during his/her third year at Tufts. There are usually 1 or 2 students per year who enter TUSDM through this program.

Eight Year Early Assurance Program

Tufts offers a eight-year early assurance program.  A student needs to complete four pre-dent requirements by the end of sophomore year - Chem 1 and 2 and Bio 13 and 14.  Students apply in April of their sophomore year.  Conditional acceptance is granted after an interview at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Final acceptance is granted after students complete four years of undergraduate study and maintain minimum academic standards.

The application deadline for both programs is April 15, 2010
