Preparing for an Occupational
Therapy Program
Most Tufts students look at entry level master's programs
for non-occupational therapy graduates when they consider the
OT
profession. These programs vary considerably in their
requirements. The following list should serve as a
general guideline only.
Common Course Requirements:
- 2 semesters General Biology (w/ lab)
- 1 or 2 semesters Physics
- Human Anatomy (w/ lab): Bio 4 at Tufts
- Human Physiology (w/ lab): Bio 9 at Tufts
- General Psychology
- Abnormal Psychology
- Developmental Psychology
- Statistics
- Intro to Anthropology/Sociology
- Lifespan Development
- Medical Terminology
Frequent Additional Requirements:
- Exercise Physiology/Kinesiology
- Physics
- Algebra
- Humanities: ethics/philosophy
- English/Literature
- Research Methods
- Other sciences: chemistry
Other Common Requirements:
- GRE Test Scores
- Typically 3 letters of reference
- Minimum GPA 3.0
- Significant volunteer work in patient care

- Deadlines vary - typically submit applications in early
