Applicant Email 5-09-09
Dear Applicants,
Reminder: Contact the Dowling Front Desk staff at
617-627-2000 or
studentservices@aseTufts.edu to check on arrival of letters,
materials and the name of your interviewer. Do not email the HPRC
for this. Always use the email address
hprc@ase.tufts.edu when
providing information to us, such as the date of your interview.
Reminder: Carol and Shirley have appointments over the
summer. To schedule, call 617-627-2000. Appointments can be done by
phone or in person.
This email is mostly about transcripts. Read carefully and save.
This is perhaps the biggest area for problems in the application
process, often because applicants do not pay attention to what is
required.
The requirements for the four major application services are listed
below. But here are the generalizations:
- you will need to send official transcripts from each college you
attended;
- official transcripts must go directly from the school’s
registrar’s office, not from you;
- transcripts generally need to be accompanied by a special form
from the application service, so you must arrange for that form to
get to each of the registrar’s offices.
Transcript Request Instructions
AMCAS One official transcript is required from each U.S., U.S.
Territorial, or Canadian postsecondary institution at which you have
attempted course work, regardless of whether credit was earned.
AMCAS will not accept student-issued transcripts or transcripts sent
by an applicant.
The Transcript Requests section of the application allows you to
create and print AMCAS Transcript Request forms* to send to the
registrars at schools from which AMCAS requires official transcripts
in order to process your application. This section also allows you
to request exceptions for transcripts that are not required by
AMCAS.
Study Abroad: You must provide a transcript for study abroad programs sponsored by
a U.S. or Canadian institution. You MUST request a transcript
exception for courses that appear on a foreign transcript only but
not on any US transcript.
*You can access AMCAS now and complete the section to allow you to
print out these forms, then put in requests at various registrar’s
offices.
AACOMAS
You must request that the registrar of each U.S. institution you
have attended submit one complete set of official transcripts
directly to AACOMAS. Include all institutions in foreign countries
and U.S. Territories and Possessions that are operated by U.S.
institutions. If an official transcript is unavailable, a letter of
explanation from that school is required.
AACOMAS will not accept student-issued transcripts or transcripts
sent by an applicant.
The Colleges and Coursework section of the application includes the
option to print transcript request forms.* While not required,
submitting this form with each transcript will expedite the
processing of your application.
Study Abroad: You must provide a transcript for study abroad programs sponsored by
a U.S. or Canadian institution. Coursework taken at foreign
institutions that does not appear on a U.S. or Canadian institution
must be evaluated for U.S. equivalence by evaluation services
designated by AACOMAS, and an official copy must be sent from the
service directly to AACOMAS Transcripts should be mailed to:
AACOMAS 5550 Friendship Blvd., Suite 310 Chevy Chase, MD 20815 301-968-4190
*You can access AACOMAS now and complete the section to allow you to
print out these forms, then put in requests at various registrar’s
offices.
AADSAS
Arrange for a sealed official transcript, accompanied by a
Transcript Matching Form* to be sent directly to the AADSAS
Transcript Processing Department from every accredited U.S. and
Canadian institution you have attended.
AADSAS will not accept student-issued transcripts or transcripts
sent by an applicant.
Study Abroad: You must provide a transcript for study abroad programs sponsored by
a U.S. or Canadian institution. Coursework taken at foreign
institutions that does not appear on a U.S. or Canadian institution
must be evaluated for U.S. equivalence by evaluation services
designated by AADSAS, and an official copy must be sent from the
service directly to AADSAS.
*AADSAS will open in early June, and then you will be able to print
these forms and provide them to registrar’s offices.
VMCAS Official transcripts are to be sent directly to the colleges you
apply to. Addresses are provided on the VMCAS application.
Regards, Carol
