Reapplicant Email May 5, 2009

This email is addressed to all students who applied previously to medical, dental or vet school.

Re-applicants take all the same steps as first-time applicants. But they have the additional necessity of honestly evaluating what happened the first time they applied and determining how they can improved any weaknesses BEFORE reapplying.
Steps to Take:

  1. All reapplicants must re-register with the HPRC.
  2. All materials from your previous file – transcripts, letters, resume, etc. – will be transferred to your new file.
  3. You must submit transcripts from any new coursework you completed since last submitting transcripts (we have Tufts transcripts).
  4. You must submit a new resume and essay.
  5. You may submit additional letters of recommendation if you choose; however, previous ones will not be discarded or eliminated unless the same writer is sending an updated version of an earlier letter.

Reapplicants reconnect with their previous HPRC committee member to have their letter updated. You may meet in person or speak over the phone to update them on what has changed in your candidacy.

New this year: All reapplicants must meet with either Carol or Shirley prior to re-interviewing with their HPRC committee member. Our acceptance rate for re-applicants is less than a third and this is often because students reapply as a knee-jerk reaction without doing what is necessary to make themselves competitive. We want to sit with you to discuss a smart strategy for success. You can call 617-627-2000 to schedule a meeting.

Regards,
Carol
