VIII. THE TIMELINE FOR MEDICAL SCHOOL APPLICANTS

August
  • 1st - Early Decision application deadline

September
  • 15th - last date for HPRC interview
  • Receive completion cards from individual schools
  • Follow up to be sure all materials have arrived at schools if you do not receive acknowledgements

  • Receive interview invitations now through April 2009
October

January 2010
  • Check in with Carol or Shirley on your status, whether you have been interviewed, etc.

This modification applies to students who will not complete coursework until the summer and therefore will take August MCATs. Your timeline will vary somewhat but not entirely from what is outlined above.

MCAT
  • Study over the May-August period
AMCAS
  • Begin working on it as discussed above
  • Plan on submitting the AMCAS immediately upon receipt of summer grades
HPRC
  • You should try to follow the timeline above, interviewing with your representative by May or June

Therefore it is more likely that the following will occur:

August/ September
  • Receipt of MCAT scores
October
  • Receipt of AMCAS “secondary” applications - turn around ASAP
  • Receipt of completion cards late in the month
November
  • Earliest possible invitations for interviews for available dates, probably not before December

This section is for students who do complete coursework in the spring but do not take MCAT until August.

  • Follow all the dates/deadlines for the April test takers other than the test itself. You should submit all materials to medical schools prior to early October when your scores will reach them
