MEDICAL DAY ON THE HILL
Tuesday, October 20 from 6 - 8 pm in Alumnae Lounge
This is a wonderful opportunity to network and learn more about the
medical profession. Come and hear a panel of physicians followed by
socializing and dinner with Tufts alums who are physicians. Space is
limited. Reservation is required, as is proper attire. Click here to
register.
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT SAN FRANCISCO MEDICAL
SCHOOL
An admissions representative will join us on Monday, November 9th at
4:30PM in the Dowling Hall Resource Library. Here
is a great chance to learn firsthand about a highly-respected
medical school. Literature and information on their dental, nursing,
and pharmacy schools will also be available.
PREDENTAL SOCIETY MEETING
The Predent Society will be hosting Melissa Bradbury, Director of
Admissions for Tufts Dental School on November 4th at 5:30 PM in
Dowling Resource Library. The Clinical Shadowing Program with TUSDM
alums will be discussed, as will the school’s curriculum and
admissions process. This is a great meeting for predental students
or those contemplating dentistry.
GET INVOLVED
Check out the oldest service organization on Tufts campus – Leonard
Carmichael Society – for many ways you can make a difference. Their
website is

SAMPLE POSTGRAD OPPORTUNITY
Many prehealth students choose to pursue interests through jobs,
internships, fellowships or service programs after college prior to
going on to med or dent or public health school. Career Services has
a huge array of resources to help you find that opportunity. Here is
one interesting research opportunity:
Susan G. Komen for the Cure has extended the Post Baccalaureate
Training in Disparities Research (PBT-DR) pre-application deadline.
Pre-applications are now due no later than October 15, 2009, 8:00 pm
eastern time. The deadline for full application submission remains
November 17, 2009 at 8:00pm eastern time. For both mechanisms,
pre-applications are required prior to starting a full application.
Post-Baccalaureate Training in Disparities Research (PBT-DR) awards
provide an opportunity for individuals early in their education,
particularly those from populations affected by disparities in
breast cancer outcomes, and encourages them to seek careers focused
on understanding and eliminating these disparities. This award
provides individual support of $45,000 annually for 3 years for up
to three trainees.
Requests for Applications (RFA) are available at
www.komen.org/grants or
www.komengrantsaccess.org.
