Founded in 1983, the Asian American Center works primarily with students of Asian descent
and serves as a resource for all students by offering programs and services supportive to
student academic and personal development. The director is available for counseling and advising
on academic and personal issues, and the Center sponsors group discussions, lectures, film events,
alumni programs, and community learning activities. These are often co-sponsored with academic
departments, other offices, and student organizations, and are open to the entire campus community.
Through the Peer Leader Program, upperclass students serve as resources for self-identified first-year
Asian American students to ensure their successful transition to college.
