Tufts in Japan

Accommodations and Meals
Students have their own small efficiency apartments in the International House. Participants can cook for themselves or eat at one of the university cafeterias. Groceries can be purchased at the bottom of the hill, just off campus. In addition, each student will be matched with a Japanese family of which he/she will become a satellite member.

Orientation
The resident director conducts a week-long orientation which introduces students to the University of Kanazawa as well as to the surrounding area.

Student Activities
Students are encouraged to join one or more of the student clubs on campus and to take part in extracurricular activities. In addition, trips to the mountains, the ocean, and to historic areas of Kanazawa are arranged throughout the year. Field trips will expose students to various Japanese art forms such as ceramics, silk dyeing, lacquerware, and traditional Japanese theater.
