- 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA)
Tufts Federal Code:
002219 Deadline: After January 1, 2012
but prior to February 15th.
When completing the FAFSA, we strongly
encourage you to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool
to ensure accuracy. This tool transfers your
2011 tax information directly from the IRS into
the FAFSA for you. In order to use the IRS Data
Retrieval Tool you must file your 2011 taxes at
least two weeks before completing the FAFSA.
You
should complete the FAFSA by February 15th even
if your 2011 taxes are not complete.
If
you complete your FAFSA before your 2011 taxes
are complete, you will need to log into the
FAFSA 2 weeks after your taxes are submitted to
the IRS and use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool at
that point (see
Aid Policies for more information). Tufts will begin downloading FAFSAs mid-February. TAMS will not be updated
with this information until then.
- AFTER you submit your CSS
PROFILE you will receive via
email a letter and Cover Sheet detailing the other forms
(e.g., signed 2011 Federal Income Taxes, W2s, electronic Noncustodial
Parent
Application, business taxes, etc.) required by Tufts. These forms must be submitted
with the Cover Sheet, directly back to the
College Board's IDOC (Institutional
Documentation Imaging) service. Do not send
documents to Tufts; everything will be
sent, in a single submission, to the
IDOC
service. See
How
to Apply for more details.
Deadline: March 1st
If 2011 taxes are not yet completed, please do
so as soon as possible, submitting them in one
single packet to IDOC, along with all schedules
and W-2 forms. Financial aid applications
will not be reviewed until all required forms
are submitted.
* An institutional application form is not
required of new student applicants.

In light of Tufts' commitment to maintain an
international community, the University makes
available a small amount of funding for talented
international students. Because of the limited
financial aid funding available, Tufts can offer
admission to only a very small number of
International applicants a year. Because funding is
very limited, families who have the ability to fund
the entire educational expenses should not apply for
financial aid. Competition among this segment of the
applicant pool will be keen. International financial aid is based on
need. Awards will consist of grant and possible
eligibility for an on-campus job.

If an International student enrolls at Tufts
without financial aid as a first year student, that
student is not normally eligible for aid in
subsequent years at Tufts. An exception may be made
for an International student who has completed at
least two years at Tufts, and whose family has
experienced an unanticipated change in family
financial circumstances. In these cases, limited
funds may be available, and the student may apply
for an emergency grant and/or loans. Other
information may be found here on the
International Center website.
